The Story of Ondra

In a land covered with pink and purple there lived a shy little princess named Ondra. She didn’t have any brothers or sisters, but she was one of the happiest young girls in all of Kad, a small village where princesses live in cottages, not castles.

Princess Ondra”s cottage was in the shape of a flower. It had cute little windows that were covered with criss-cross lines on them. When it was too cold to play outside (as it often was because it snows a lot in Kad), Princess Ondra liked to play tic-tac-toe inside the lines on the frosty windows. She would melt a square on the window with an “X” and then another with an “O”. But her game wouldn’t last long since tic-tac-toe is not much fun without two people.

Even though she lived alone, Princess Ondra kept busy by taking care of Starr, an old horse that was given to her on her 10th birthday. Ondra would never forget the day that she met Starr.

On that morning, she woke up early because she heard something strange. She had just rubbed the sleep out of her eyes when she saw a large black horse with a big pink bow wrapped around its neck. It was just outside her window! Starr neighed loudly as if to say, “good morning, Ondra.” From that moment on, Ondra and Starr became the best of friends.
